Audrey found a little caterpillar on our back porch a few weeks ago. She named him Izzy, made him a snug little home and watched him non-stop for an entire day. We were all pretty fascinated with Izzy. The very next day Izzy began making a cocoon. We watch Izzy build it all day long.
For a very long three weeks we waited for Izzy to become a beautiful butterfly. The girls were pretty disappointed when we ended up with an ugly moth. Kiersty was totally over the Izzy love at that point, as was I. Audrey was pretty disappointed too. However, after about a half a day of getting use to the idea, Audrey decided she still loved Izzy the moth. It took a lot for her to part with her little friend and let him rejoin the wild. About two weeks after the event, Audrey came to me teary eyed and said, "Mom, I miss Izzy. Will he come visit me?" Izzy was a lucky little caterpillar/moth. I’m pretty sure no moth has ever been quite as loved.

Its just like Audrey to find a caterpillar and then love it when it becomes a moth! I was afraid you were going to say that it died an split in half like all our cocoons did growing up.
Your girls are growing up so much! We can't wait to see them at Christmas!
